Okay everyone, this is a list of songs that I need covers of. Anyone who's interested in tackling a song, post your interest here. The available songs are:

The main theme
Giggle at the Ghostie (Mike Gallop/electronic)
Pinkie's Gala Fantasy (The Best Place for Me) (Penguin)
Pinkie's Buttering Up Song (Penguin)
Hop, Skip, and Jump
Evil Enchantress (Pinkie Pie) (Nightcolt)
Evil Enchantress (Flutterguy) (Pickslide/80's thrash metal)
Winter Wrap-Up (Cyril/power metal) (Raider)
Cupcakes (Pickslide/death metal)
Art of the Dress (Stitching it Together) (Pending, I might do it if no one else wants to and sacrifice a lesser song)
Hush Now, Quiet Now
Cutie Mark Crusaders (Pickslide/Either Metallica or Ozzy)
You Gotta Share
So Many Wonders (Pickslide/either progressive rock or 90's rock)
Singing Telegram (Pickslide/punk rock)
At The Gala (RainbowDashing/variety of genres)
I'm at the Grand Galloping Gala
Pony Pokey (Necro/either surf or country)

Originals
Sonic Rainboom (Pickslide and Necro/neoclassical vs. hard rock guitar duel)
Other Sonic Rainboom (Synth)
Cutie Mark Chronicles piano piece (Mike Gallop)
Celestia inspired strings/harpsichord pieve (Elision)

Parody
At the Gala (Pickslide and anyone else interested in joining in)

I'm debating on whether the Parasprite Polka or Equestria Girls should be included, but if anyone wants to give a whack at them, be my guest.

I'll take originals as well.

I already have a cover of Cupcakes, Cutie Mark Crusaders, and So Many Wonders but CMC and So Many Wonders needs a bit of TLC (Vocals mainly).

Here's the song list Empty Is this okay?

Post  MikeGallop Fri Jun 17, 2011 11:28 am

I've been thinking about making extended version of the piano melody found at the end of MLP:FiM episode ''Cutiemark Chronicles'' (during friendship report and at the earlier scene). Maybe combining it with main theme or something... It's still at the stage of designing.
Is it okay even if it's not in the list?

I like it, definitely something I never heard of before. Go for it! It counts as an original.

I don't know why, but the idea to do a kazoo version of "Art of the Dress" just popped into my head.

That's hilarious, but I'm not sure if that'd work.

That's the best for me, though I'd like to get it done before the second season begins. We have plenty of time.

I played the whole thing out in my head, and it works for at least half of the song. So if anything I might just do that for fun.

Ooh! I'm really tempted to do a metal cover of "Evil Enchantress," but I feel like it's been done too many times and would be really cliche at this point.

At first welcome on my behalf! Smile
Basically there are already a ton of different versions from all songs, so why not just give it a go?

We could both do one. Which one do you want, Pinkie Pie or Flutterguy?

I'll take Pinkie Pie, since it's crazy dissonant and all. I think I already have a guitar line in mind. The only problem is finding out when my neighbors are away so I don't get sent to the mental institution while trying to do vocals.

Where would you like me to post it when I'm done, btw?

Make a new thread for it. I actually had an idea too for Pinkie's version, but I can tackle Flutterguy.

So uh, is this where we come to say "hey I have this idea and I gonna do it?"

I was playing around with Winter Wrap-up (its been stuck in my head for going on a week now) and think it would make a good hardrock/metal song complete with guitar solo. I need to see if I can simplify the verses a bit because there are WAY too many chord changes if I were to go the power metal route.

I may need help with vocals. I'll make a new thread when I figure out exactly how the chord changes are gonna work.

Post  MikeGallop Fri Jun 17, 2011 2:39 pm

The song played in ''show stoppers'' and in the party scenes of ''party of one'' has potential...
An upbeat rapid rave techno remix or pretty cool metal cover. Why not?
I'm in a middle of a job so it's free game for anypony.
On the other hoof... We could make several versions from any song and see later on what will be left out (or include them all).

Yeah, anyone can do any song they please. I just have to edit the OP to keep track of who's doing what song.

Keep in mind originals work too, just tell me the title so I can put it in the OP as well.

Hey there,

I was wondering if I could have a go at 'At The Gala': I have a couple of ideas in mind, and I'm willing to try the song out in a number of different genres and styles - do you have a preference for any particular style? I can let you know soon once I start making some progress on it.

Thanks. Smile

So far no one has claimed At The Gala (I'd try my hoof at it, but Everypony Sings doesn't have any music for it), so it's yours.

As for style, I'd like to have a little of everything (From techno to metal). In fact I had an idea for At The Gala involving every pony's part symbolized by a genre (Rainbow Dash for rock, Rarity for classical, Applejack for Country, Fluttershy for maybe 80's pop or soft rock, Pinkie Pie for pop punk or top 40's, and Twilight maybe progressive rock like Rush) but that's just my idea.

Ah thanks very much - I'll try not to let you down! Razz

Right okay, that should work - I reckon I could do that to a degree. I'm thinking of perhaps giving it an drum machine for the rhythm in most of the sections (1. to keep it upbeat and not too dull, and 2. so I don't have to mess about with micing drums at all). It'll be a bit of a project, but I've got enough time and resources to have a good stab at it.

Thanks again! Very Happy

Even before I found out about this project I've been thinking about doing a Sonic Rainboom original and it wasn't taken last night when I signed up. Would two originals based off the same thing be too much? I'd be okay with doing colab or something but no other episode has really inspired me to write a song. BTW, it was going to be dubstep.

I'm making progress with the piano thingie at the end of ''cutiemark chronicles''.
It doesn't have a title i guess? Would you come up with a name for it and add it to the list with my name?
I'm still not quite sure wether to take up the other thing... I think it doesn't have a title either?
Thanks!

Now i'll call it a day and get some rest...
I'll be here likely tomorrow.
Good night!

The Sonic Rainboom me and Necro did is sort of a guitar battle thing. He did some guitar work similar to Yngwie Malmsteen while I did some similar to Van Halen (Malmsteen is Rarity, Van Halen is Rainbow Dash)

As long as it's different, I don't mind.

And Gallop, Sure, I'll think of a title for you.

What about the instrumental songs? I don't think that William Anderson gets enough love around this fandom.
I'd be willing to do a cover of the instrumental song Cutie Mark Crusaders Go Crusading.

That's a pretty cool idea but what are we going to do about the title? It seems like we still have good amount of time to figure it out though so I guess it's not a big deal right now, I was just wondering about it.
